Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A golden fused shell charged with nine red bendlets. The insignia is 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height.

Symbolism
On a fused 155 mm shell (Or) symbolic of the parent 34th Field Artillery, from which the unit was activated, nine red bendlets to indicate the number of the organization.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 9th Division Artillery on 6 August 1942. It was redesignated for the 9th Infantry Division Artillery on 25 March 1958.
